This has been a very informative and interesting community forum. Like many of you have mentioned before it can be very difficult to be a master of so many things at once. Thus I am curious to know, what are some of your very own favorite topics that have been successful, that you like to teach that integrate science, math, reading, and writing into one?

I have been volunteering at the Science Center in Baltimore. There I run the Stomp Rocket exhibit. I wanted to share this activity to all of you as a potential idea to implement into you classroom. It is a fun and exciting experiment for kids to kinesthetically understand Newton’s law of motion and force. By using stomp rockets students can analyze optimal angles that will project the rocket i...

4 Geography of Mars Review
Although the podcast is fuzzy, it offers great visuals and pertinent questions all about things discovered on the surface of Mars. Along with a these photographs there is a detailed monologue description of each photograph and what it embodies. This podcast focuses on spherical granules (blueberries) and how they were on objects like a Stone Mountain, etc. Its main focus is what the blueberries were caused by and how they came to be which leads in to the topic that blueberries are proof of water had once existed on mars. Often times the guy who discusses these topics relates it to how similar things that could be discovered on earth. This recourse also covers what most likely caused these various objects to exist. At the end, it can seem a little lengthily but I would definitely check this very informative podcast out to learn how scientist prove water exist on mars.

4 Close-Up Look Review
This is an interesting recourse that focus's on the concept of finding life on Mars. If you are looking for this recourse to inform you about the basic information concerning mars (i.e. weight, number of moons, size compared to other planets, pressure, or wind speed, etc) this recourse is not the one for you. This science guide main focus discusses scientist attempts to determine if life existed on mars or if it currently exist. Often times the links you can explore compares mars to the habitats and other various findings that are similar to earth. Initially, this science guide can seem confusing but don’t be afraid to engage in the multiple choices you have available to explore and comprehend the concept of life existing on mars. This science guide is beneficial because it navigates you in your own exploration through a variety of websites to research and gain knowledge from. In order to benefit the teacher even more with this topic, this guide offers a lesson plan, audio clip, sample of student work and more. I recommend that you check it out!
