I am an early education major at The University of Texas at Tyler and will be graduating in December 2020! I want to work with lower level children and eventually get my master's degree in special education or become a LSSP!

How do you handle doing whole class experiments and keeping an eye on every student, students who are more prone to accidents, etc. I love doing hands on with my kids, but I really struggle keeping up with that many kids in an experiment setting.

I picked this article because I really enjoyed the subject matter that it covers. I have always been very curious about bodies of water and the life that is within them. In this article, the author gives a lot of information about the different ways that students can learn about these bodies of water and marine life. This was very interesting to me, since I have done similar projects like this before with my students. I learned through this one a new and more education specific side of this. I picked the TEK 5.9A for my future classroom, this centers on the way the ecosystems interact with each other. I would use this in my classrooms by discussing with my students the different types of marine life and how they interact with one another. I would also incorporate the project of the students getting to incorporate their own marine ecosystem to watch and keep in the classroom. I learned a few things from this article, one being that there are many different ways to present this topic to students, the different technology that can be used in this area, and hot to make this a fun topic for my students.

I picked this article because I love the hands on aspect of that it brings to learning about the layers of the Earth. One of the things that I learned through reading this article is how to make the learning about the layers of the earth fun and interesting to my students. Using this technique we will be able to let our students learn through their own discoveries. I picked the TEK 5.7A for my classroom. This TEK is a fifth grade TEK that addresses the layers of the earth. In my classroom I would use this TEK when teaching about the layers of the earth and what they were made of. We would complete this by letting the students experiment with a cake made with different kinds of cake to represent the layers of the Earth. I agree with this article in a few ways, I love the hands on and discovery aspects about the article and project. Using these techniques in the classroom will not only make your classroom more enjoyable for students, but they will learn the subject matter more efficiently.

I chose this article because, I am genuinely interested in doing what is best for our students when it comes to State Assessments. I was brought into this article, because I wanted to know what they had to say about these assessments. Through reading this article that the science part of the state assessment was memorizing the information on the test, when in reality children learn better in a hands on format. The purpose of the article and experiment was to generate a state assessment test that involves hands on experiments so that students can be tested on their discoveries and creativity. The TEKS that I found for this article consist of 2.2 A-F, 2.3 A-C, and 2.4 A, B. I could use this information in my classroom, by allowing students to learn through experiments and their own discoveries. And hopefully these advancements can be made to state assessments through teachers like us pushing for these changes. I agree with this article because students do learn more efficiently through hands on activities and their own discoveries. I believe that these new activities and changes could be very beneficial to our young students.
