Hello Angela, I agree with Lola. Students in the younger grades need to be engaged through playing learning guides. The activities in STEM should be interactive and relatable to the world around them. My best advice would be to get to know what your students are interested in learning and then incorporate that into the classroom!

Hey Raquel, I love the idea with the vinegar and baking soda. Other ideas could be using yeast and peroxide so students can see how chemical reactions can produce heat! Here is a very cute and informative video about chemical changes in the kitchen that the students may relate to (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37pir0ej_SE)   I hope this was helpful!

Hey Stephanie, You could try to include students interest into the lesson or start off with a question that will make students think about something they have all seen before.  I hope this helped!

4 Great ideas and collection of data
This article is a great tool on helping teachers who work with older students to show them how weathering and erosion affects rocks around us. I would have liked if the article touched on resources that teachers could use to receive a tumbler for free. Also, I wondered how many rock tumblers were in the classroom. Aside from these issues, I would say that the article shows science at its best! Students were collecting data and seeing in real time how water and wind affects the mass and overall shapes of rocks.

5 Great Tools to Distinguish Weathering & Erosion
The resources in this article were extremely helpful. I loved the questions that they provided and the exit ticket. It allows students to be reflective and it helps teachers caught any misconceptions that students may have about weathering and erosion!
