I'll second and third what many of you have mentioned, and agree with Tina that Bill Nye's "Greatest Discoveries" is worthwhile. I made worksheets for many of the Cosmos episodes, and we watch maybe 8-10 minute segments during some classes.

Use practical every day items that depend on the E-M spectrum, like cell phones, radios, TV, lights, and so forth. Students can relate to these items.

For students who were confusing apogee and perigee, I told them to think of apogee as "away" since both words began with an "a". Rather simple but seems to have worked.
