Hello Darcey! This is an amazing way to get students to participate as well as have fun. I would definitely love to go on a field trip like this myself. It involves an experimental process as well as a lesson on health. Covering multiple subjects is a great way to ensure that students can learn and retain information. Great suggestion!

As a pre-service teacher, I am always trying to think of new ways to incorporate lessons that can cross subjects. Recently, I’ve done lessons on Social Studies and I would like to know if anyone has ever combined science and Social Studies in a lesson? What ways or topics could you cross? I was thinking more about the History of Science, but how can I make that fun for Elementary students?

5 Real-World Application
This was a very interesting article because it taught students information through simulation but instead of stopping there, they were able to apply in in field experience. It gives students the ability to feel like real scientists rather that students learning in a classroom. Allowing students to experience this gives them the answer to the question we've all asked in school "How can I use this in the real world?" The experience is something I would definitely like to implement in a class of my own.

4 Project-Based Learning
I love the ideas presented in this article. The ideas of project-base learning are always fascinating to me because they take the pressure off of the teacher while still enriching students with a valuable learning experience. Giving the students an opportunity to learn about water resources and what we can do to protect them teaches students to value the environment through action and practice rather than lecture. It also gives students the opportunity to get out of the classroom and see how these concepts can be applied into our daily lives. I love it!
