I am also interested in all the possibilities that human impact on resources can bring. This is a subject that can be touched on in every subject and can even have kids initiate an action piece. Here's a quick lesson that I enjoy doing with the kids. Draw a hopscotch with chalk on the ground. Tell students that they represent birds, other other migrating animals. Have them jump through the ...

I have created a unit for nutrition and have included all my documents and templates here. The main idea was to get kids to realize that everyone's nutritional needs varies dependent of personal reactions to certain foods and preferences of food. First, we filled out a food diary for 1 week, see template. Also sent letter hoem to parents so they knew the expectation for filling it out. Next...

ooh shanae, I like that idea. Study mass. Can you post a lesson plan, resources if you go forward with that lesson plan? This would be perfect for what were doing right now with scientific process. I remember a long long time ago a friend of mine doing a lesson with measuring tape and comparing circumference of each rounded shape. Can we work area in there too? 5 Great Resource for getting your lessons together
This SciGuide is full of creative ideas and resources to possible lesson plan ideas. I do teach 3rd grade so was hesitant about he title, however, there was tons of stuff I could use at my level, as well as things I could alter a little to fit. I was able to find a rich source of lesson plans in areas such as environment, resources, and human impact. I found an idea I had forgotten about that I am surely going to use in regards to ecosystems and the information helped me to organize and develop my unit for environmental science. There is so many useful lesson plans, links to websites with even more information that I was not able to go through it all. Will use this resource as long as I am able to.

3 Some stuff, I will need to supplement elsewhere
Compared to some of the other SciGuides, this one does not have as much content. There is a couple lesson plans that can be used but nothing that fits my concept of what is applicable for my class. There are a few great links to outside activities for kids to practice. I will be needing to create my own, and I will be doing a broad search on the NSTA website to see if there is any other ideas.

5 Tons of Resources
This Sci guide has tons of resources! I don't see needing any other resources to plan my lesson for rocks. The sciguide is a nice companion to the scipack, rocks.
