I am 27 years old! I enjoy learning new things and trying new things. I am currently a Junior at Southern Illinois University at the University Center where I am studying Elementary Education. I have worked with kids since I can remember and enjoy every bit of it. When I have a little bit of free time I love spending time with my family and dog.

Rachel,  It’s definitely shocking how little we know about our solar system and how much we are taught. Even being in schools now I don’t feel that students are learning enough, I’m not even sure that I have seen much of the solar system being taught. As you mentioned, science is always changing so we definitely can’t be teaching students the same thing. Great post !

1. Why is it NOT okay to continue to teach what is in science textbooks if we know the information is outdated/no longer factual? Rachel, I agree with your post. Teachers should not expect to be perfect but effective instead. As you mentioned it is ok to make mistakes and to let our students know it is ok as well. Expecting perfection with only cause stress on the teacher and students.
