Hi, I've come across some similar projects, but I wouldn't consider them easy. There's a lot out there that doesn't extend to actual engineering. I was wondering if maybe something in the form of students creating an educational "tool" - online webpage, podcast... might work. Best Wishes! Jennifer D.

Hi, When it comes to getting and keeping little ones engaged, candy definitely gives you a huge advantage. 5 Visual Thinking Strategies
I had never heard of VTS or visual thinking strategies before, but I’ve learned it’s a strategy developed for art museums and its purpose is to “facilitate discussion around images”. This article is describing how VTS can be applied to scientific investigations and it pairs nicely with NGSS, which encourages higher order thinking skills - analyzing, evaluating, reasoning, inferring, etc. This article gives examples of how the strategy could be applied to a science lesson and includes sample questions and conversation starters. This article piqued my interest because I am always looking for a fresh perspective to motivate me. I will definitely research this approach further and continue to look for innovative ways to inspire my students.
