I agree with Markette. A scavenger hunt would be a great way to encourage students to observe and study science at home.

Showing them a video about the different seasons would be useful. You can stop a different points of the video and ask questions.

This sounds like a great idea for students in Kinder or 1st grade. I am student teacher for 1st grade and in my classroom there are a couple of students who are really shy and don't talk much at all.
