Enhance Your Content and Pedagogical Knowledge Using NSTA
Resources: Earth and Space Science
The Solar System Scipack Simulation
This web seminar took place on July 10, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. eastern
standard time. The presenter was Don Boonstra, NSTA Coordinator
for Online Advisors.
Don Boonstra explained how the Learning Center--NSTA's ePD portal with over 11,600
resources, a community of like-minded individuals, and professional learning tools--can
enhance and extend educators' content and pedagogical knowledge of earth and space
science topics. Don Boonstra outlined several types of earth and space science resources
available on the Learning Center, particularly Science Objects and SciPacks. He
also demonstrated several methods for finding high quality professional learning
resources in the Learning Center. Participants explored two simulations found in
the Earth, Sun, and Moon SciPack and related Science Objects. Participating educators
searched for Science Objects in the Learning Center and added several to their libraries.
A collection of free NSTA resources was also shared with the attendees.
