NOAA Climate Data in the Classroom
This half-day symposium took place on April 11, 2013 as part of NSTA’s National Conference on Science Education in San Antonio, Texas. During the symposium, NOAA scientists and education specialists discussed how NOAA collects, manages, and analyzes data about climate and how educators can access and use this data in the classroom. Participants learned about websites and resources that utilize climate data, including drought, sea surface temperature, coastal water quality, and ocean acidification. In addition, the symposium highlighted impacts of coastal changes on habitats and ocean chemistry impacts on coral communities. Each participant received a $47 stipend for attendance.
