Climate Change Here and Now: Impacts on Western Coasts, Ocean and Atmosphere

During this half-day Climate Symposium, scientists and education specialists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) explained the latest findings about the impacts of climate change on west coast ecosystems, coastlines, water resources and species. Participants learned about regional efforts to monitor and understand climate changes and received ideas and resources to translate climate science for the classroom. Participants were provided with educational materials, including classroom activities that aim to create ocean and climate literate students who can make informed decisions in the future. Each participant received a $60 stipend for attendance. All participants also received educational materials and information about resources that are available at the NOAA website.

This symposium was held at the NSTA National Conference on Science Education in San Francisco, CA. The program was designed for teachers 5-12.
