Web Seminars Technical Information:

The Web Seminar tool NSTA is using is called: Elluminate Live! Elluminate Live! requires Sun Microsystems Java Web Start to be installed on your machine.

  1. If you are a FIRST TIME USER, go to: http://www.elluminate.com/support to make sure that you have Java Web Start on your computer.
  2. Visit the Elluminate Live! CONFIGURATION ROOM to set-up your computer's audio.

    • Web Seminars are usually scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
    • Web Seminars begin at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time. They last 90 minutes.

  2. At what time do Web Seminars begin?
    • Web Seminars begin at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time. They last 90 minutes.

  3. How long are the Web Seminars?
    • Web Seminars are 90 minutes long. The first 30 minutes are reserved for training the participants in the use of the interactive tools. The formal presentation lasts 60 minutes.

  4. How do I register to attend a Web Seminar?
    • If you attend a Symposium at an NSTA National or Area Conference on Science Education, you are automatically registered to attend the related Web Seminar. If you are not able to attend the Conference, you can register online by visiting the web site:

  5. I noticed you do two Web Seminars for each topic. Are the two Web Seminars identical or are they different from each other?
    • Each topic has two Web Seminars and they are both different from each other.

  6. Do I need to have attended the Symposium at the NSTA Conference on Science Education to be able to attend the Web Seminars?
    • No. Attending the related Symposium is not required to participate on a Web Seminar.

  7. How much does it cost to attend a Web Seminar?
    • Web Seminars are sponsored programs, free of charge to participants.

  8. How many participants can attend a Web Seminar?
    • Currently, 90 log-ins are supported for each Web Seminar.

  9. Can I invite my children to attend Web Seminars?
    • Web Seminars are designed with educators in mind. We encourage the participation of adult educators.

  10. Are the Web Seminars archived for later viewing?
    • Yes. The Web Seminars are recorded for later viewing. Of course, we recommend you attend the Web Seminar on the day when it is being presented since that will give you the opportunity to ask your questions to the presenter(s).
