The Making Metal webisode was developed by the National Defense Education Program LabTV.

Abstract: Engineers are creating alloys to meet specific criteria. The goal is to make metals that wear better for greater longevity. Materials processing involves making or joining different materials in interesting ways such as friction stir welding and centrifuging. Using special techniques, engineers are making new metal composites for Navy ships.

Being a math teacher for twenty years, this program has allowed me to learn interesting concepts from other disciplines. I am a life long learner. Since I look forward to learning how Grumman builds its airplanes at the St. Augustine location, I thought this video would help build my foundation. Great video.
