Diversity is not an unusual topic in classrooms studying biology. From the wondrous variety of animals and plants in the rain forest to the microcosm present in soil, most teachers have taught diversity through one route or another. However, it is probably not as common to talk about the issue of diversity as it relates to our own species. This article presents activities inspired by the books My Brother Matthew and Our Brother Has Down's Syndrome, which focus on the diversity of human beings.
