This article walks the reader through the preparation for an elementary class of students to take a trip to the beach for some hands-on learning. More than a discussion of the activities this article outlines the type of preparations that are necessary as far back as two months prior to the visit as well as a debriefing activity afterwards. It all starts with collecting books for children to read about the beach before the actual trip. For an educator who has never taken kids on a field trip, especially one that includes water, this is a very valuable guide for preparation.
