All teachers know that young students have a remarkable ability to ponder questons and put them in a context that is understandable to them. Unfortunately, in too many classrooms, students don't get the opportunity to watch, wonder, or ask questions about the world around them. This article discusses the disconnect between students and science inquiry in the classroom and current strategies being targeted and implemented to get science back on the map.

This article simply discusses how teachers may be the only actual scientist that students may actually know throughout life. Each year students are lacking the knowledge about science due to teachers having the lack of time to teach it. More and more overtime students are walking into science classrooms less prepared more than ever to learn grade-level content. Teachers have lack of time for planning lessons and providing additional help that students need. This trend among our students will have a devastating impact on our world when students lack knowledge about mathematics, engineering, and technology and decide not to work in the job fields in the future. Overall, I believe the article is accurate in many ways about teacher lacking the time to teach science in their classrooms. From what I have observered, many teachers do lack the time to plan lesson geared for science with experiments for students. Teachers are now teaching more towards standardized tests and this eliminates a lot of information that students need to know in science subjects. In some classrooms, science is only taught maybe once or twice a week and more towards the end of the day when activities are more rushed through. This increases the problem of students not knowing the information each year. I do agree that this will later impact the country as whole. The more students lack this knowledge, the less likely students will participate in working in career fields such as engineering, technology, and mathematics due to the lack of knowledge. This could cause a economic problem throughout the world if we don't have engineers, technicians, or mathematicians to carry on legacies.
