This is a great article on tides. The rubber band activity really put my thought process in the right place for understanding this complicated subject. Thanks!

This article abounds with Bill Robertson's usual humor. Understanding the tides is a very difficult concept to explain to elementary students. With the sample activities in this article and the diagrams, students (and adults too) will be able to understand what causes the tides.....the effect of the moon and sun's gravity on the earth!
