Fifth-grade students use computer programming to create models that help them understand patterns in Earth and sky.
This article discussed a new way for teachers to conduct a 5E lesson plans while allowing the students to take charge of their learning. In the article they were learning about the Earth and Sun and what relation the sun has to the Earth. They were introduced to a new virtual modeling tool that allows students to draw their thoughts and they come to action to depict what their predictions are. As they show their own drawing they can compare and discuss why some are different if any and correct as needed. This is an awesome way to engage and help with exploring different science concepts. it is hard to document the sun in relation to where we are at school for example because the majority of the day we are inside and/or out of the classroom and in specials or lunch. this way they are able to play with their own drawing and move the sun according the time of day it is. This tool seems to be very helpful in many ways to help visualize and to help differentiate instruction in the classroom.
