Using bottlenose dolphin sightings to study spatial patterns.
A nice application for GIS that supports data visualization.
This article describes how students used data about bottle-nosed dolphins to create pattern graphs to show where the dolphin feeding grounds were. This exercise includes math, geography and science in the same lesson. The students also looked at other area evidence to see what might cause the dolphin to choose its particular feeding ground.
