Amphibians come in many shapes, sizes, and colors and can be described and identified using language that appeals to our senses of sight, touch, and hearing. When students compare different amphibians, they are more likely to think deeply about the physical and behavioral characteristics that make each unique. Students may discover unique characteristics that showcase the differences between amphibians and also begin to recognize their similarities. The objective of this lesson is for students to be able to identify the similarities and differences between amphibians as they compare and contrast two different species. This curriculum book sample seems very comprehensive. It includes activities and extensions for grades K-2 and a few PreK. The activities are designed to cross multiple subjects and seem very engaging for the students as well as very practical for teachers.
