This Web Seminar took place on January 25, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Presenting was Dr. Arnold Goldstein and Dr. Emmanuel Sikali from the National Center for Education Statistics. Dr. Francis Eberle, Executive Director of NSTA, shared his remarks about the challenges the data presents for science educators and policy makers. In this Seminar, the presenters gave an overview of the NAEP science assessment, shared specific results from the 2009 instrument and showed participants associated web tools for educators and policy makers. I found the results of 2009 NAEP quite discouraging. This web seminar, however, was rich with data to help teachers know how to interpret the results. Great online tools were demonstrated that allow teachers the ability to determine what needs to be done differently to improve student performance.
